Outdoor experience Program Week of Wilderness

The WOW is an amazing experience for new students at UC Merced, both incoming freshmen and transfer students. During the trip, participants are introduced to both wilderness travel and their upcoming college experience; all within a healthy and safe group environment. This years Week of Wilderness (WOW) includes two offerings. 

 

Week of Wilderness Multisport Adventure 

Join the Outdoor Experience Program and Wilderness Center staff for this Week of Wilderness Multisport Adventure trip. You will go rafting on the spectacular American River, kayak Lake Alpine and backpack in world famous Yosemite National Park, with a chance to summit Mt. Hoffman. The cost is only $425 and includes: transportation, park entrance fee, group food, camping and backpacking gear, rafting, camping and guide rafting fees, and kayak rentals. This trip is rated moderate to strenuous.

Week of Wilderness Yosemite Backpacking

This backpacking version of the Week of Wilderness takes you into the backcountry to explore the 10 Lakes Basin region of Yosemite National Park. The trip includes incredible views of the High Sierra with camping near beautiful high sierra lakes. This trip culminates with a summit attempt of Mt. Mount Hoffman, a 10,856 ft. mountain with the first recorded accent by John Muir. The cost of the trip is only $325 and includes transportation, group food, backpacking and camping gear, park and guide fees. This trip is rated moderate to strenuous for altitude, mileage and carrying large loads.
