Athletic Training services are provided exclusively for intercollegiate and club sport student athletes of UC Merced and student athletes from visiting teams. As a student athlete you must adhere to regulations, responsibilities and obligations identified by the Athletic Training Staff's policies and procedures. Prior to engaging in any athletic related team activity, club sport student athletes are required to have a pre-participation physical examination completed by Student Health Services.
UC Merced club sport athletes are supported by the Athletic Training staff who are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, assessment, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is an individual who has a degree from an accredited university and has passed the Board of Certification Exam.
The Athletic Training Program collaborates with the UC Merced Student Health Services as well as community orthopedists and physical therapists to deliver well-rounded and exceptional care to our student athletes.
