The 2020 Project campus expansion is a 1.2 million GSF project that is being designed and built in three phases between 2016 and 2020. This will roughly double the physical capacity of the campus and will provide a way for UC Merced to address existing academic and student life needs and enable enrollment growth. The Recreation & Athletics department will see growth in terms of a new competition soccer field, two recreation fields, a competition pool, additional locker rooms, office space, tennis courts and outdoor basketball courts.
